See sale price, discount amount and margin after a percentage or fixed discount.
Sale price = List price − Discount. Percentage off = Discount ÷ List price.
List price 1,499 with 20% off. Discount = 299.80. Sale price = 1,199.20.
A 20% discount on a 40% margin product does not leave 20% margin. It leaves 25% of the original price as profit on 80% of the original price — a 31.25% margin on the new price, but far less cash profit. Always re-run margin after the discount.
Clearance, bundle building and first-order incentives can be rational. Sitewide percentage-off as a habit trains customers to wait. Prefer a threshold ('free shipping over X') or a bundle if you are trying to protect AOV.

Use any currency as long as every input uses the same one. The math does not depend on a currency code.

AOV is revenue divided by orders. Bundles and free-shipping thresholds can raise it, but discounts that crush conversion or contribution are not a win.
Markup is the add-on over cost. Margin is profit as a share of selling price. Mixing them up is a common pricing error. Formulas and a conversion table.
